Who Is Ben Mendez?
Ben Mendez is married to Iris Mendez, a Software Engineer at Boeing who currently consults for NASA. They have four children: David (19), Daniel (18), Azalia (5), and Marco (1). David Mendez is joining the Police Academy in January 2014. Daniel recently enlisted in the Marines.Iris also earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston and her Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from the University of Texas at Austin.
Ben earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Houston. He also obtained his Associates Degree in General Studies from Houston Community College – Milby Campus.
Ben started his professional career in education. He taught Math at Austin High School and Houston Community College. Furthermore, he served as a program manager for the Scholarship Enrichment Program at the University of Houston.
Ben Mendez is the founder and president of PMG Project Management Group, LLC. PMG provides project management, general construction services and energy-efficient solutions.
While at PMG, Ben Mendez served as the Program Manager for the Houston Police Department’s Design and Construction Division. There he managed multiple high profile construction projects, including the renovation of the Crime Lab and Evidence Room.
Ben also served as the Manager of the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for the City of Houston, Building Services Department. In this role, he developed the five-year CIP for the construction and renovation of City facilities.

Ben serves on numerous boards, including, but not limited to: American Red Cross, Houston Business Development, Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers and National Hispanic Professional Organization. Ben is committed to educating and mentoring future leaders to impact change.
